ABOUT

Victoria Bettermann is a multidisciplinary artist and photographer originally from Luxembourg and now based London. She holds a BA in Film Studies from Kings College London and an MA in Film and Photography undertaken in Lyon.
Through her work she combines her love for traditional street photography, fashion, and a perpetual need to experiment with all sorts of media. She grew up in a household that encouraged creativity and so she started drawing from a very young age : the incorporation of paint, pastels and doodles in her technique is, in a way, an hommage to the artists in her family. She also draws a lot of inspiration from music and literature - books especially, whether novels or art books, occupy a very important place in her life, both as artist and individual.
Her photographic journey started over ten years ago, when she was just twelve years old and was gifted her first digital camera. She instantly fell in love with portrait photography and began taking commissions some years later. While she uses both digital and film cameras today, she is now very devoted to analog photography, and often develops film and prints photographs. This bias for film photography is without a doubt intwined with a constant search for texture experimentation which is very central to her work.
